US Air Force assessment selection, otherwise known as ANS. It’s a grueling four week course to become an Air Force combat controller, pararescueman, or special reconnaissance operator. As a civilian, you’ll have to complete the initial fitness test to earn a special warfare operator contract. The minimum scores are 40 pushups and 50 situps, each in two minutes. Eight pullups, a 1020 or faster 1.5 miles run, 225 meters underwaters, and then a 500 meters swim in twelve minutes and 30 seconds or faster. But remember, those are just the bare minimum scores. Competitive candidates will be much faster and stronger. So let’s say that you earned your contract. How hard is Ans? An unclassified SOCOM report shows that between 2007 and 2017, the average success rate was only 50%. The success rate range from as high as 62% in 2010 to as low as 32% in 2017.
